About Me
Amber Gray, LCSW
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband of over 30 years and volunteering in my community, church, school, and sports. I find solace in nature and enjoy reading, cooking, and exploring new dining experiences and cultural events around Houston.
Life can be challenging and overwhelming, and it takes immense strength to navigate difficult situations. As a highly experienced psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I understand the struggles you may be going through. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy and a strengths-based model, where I help you recognize and leverage your unique strengths to overcome obstacles.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is vital for the healing process, and creating a safe, non-judgmental, and empathetic space is crucial for you to express yourself freely. Whether you're facing relationship issues, life changes, or emotional struggles, Iām here to listen, understand, and guide you through.
My focus is to help you set attainable goals and enhance your well-being and relationships. I understand each journey is unique, and I will adjust my approach to suit your specific needs and meet you where you are in your life. I am committed to providing unwavering support to help you tackle any challenges and equip you with the tools you need to succeed.
Couples Therapy
When working with couples, I remain neutral to help both parties develop better communication skills. I have completed an approved Externship for Couples with Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I am a member of the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Houston EFT community. Additionally, I am trained in the Gottman Method and Imago Therapy. By using these methods and others as needed, I can help you identify problem areas, set goals, and grow both as a couple and as individuals.
Individual Therapy
When working with individuals facing relationship issues and life transitions, I provide support and guidance by taking the time to truly understand the unique challenges and concerns that you are facing. I draw from a range of evidence-based practices, including techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, emotionally focused therapy, and strength-based therapy, among others, to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment that allows you to express your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly. This approach helps you identify the root cause of your concerns and move forward in a positive direction.
